Welcome Nation! Buy Beer Not Friends and Greek is Weak were created by a group of friends that realized true friendship was something that shouldn’t be paid for. Paying an organization for acceptance, following secret rules, and being invited to social activities was something we were never interested in. Each of us was approached by Greek organizations to pledge over several semesters. We declined after seeing the mind control and lack of individual thought that pledges, as well as members, were expected to obey. We all knew this is something we could never do as independent and "non-herd-of-sheep" mentality people. The many social and outgoing people that have contributed to Greek is Weak make friends, attend parties, and choose to associate with others regardless of the organization they pay to belong to. A great example of this is the movie National Lampoon’s Van Wilder. On one side, you have a very social and outgoing Van Wilder who doesn’t need to pay for friends, and on the other side, you have a very lame Greek organization.

We believe people should pay for college NOT friends... Who control what you do, what you wear, and who you are allowed to date. Step out of line in a Greek organization and the rest of the herd turns on you… not something you want when you’re paying for friends and acceptance.

However, we do think going Greek is a smart decision for some with two characteristics.

You are socially challenged and paying for acceptance and friends would be a smart investment for you.
You can’t get chicks and dates with your own personality and charm.

Don’t let the Greek propaganda fool you; there is no benefit professionally for paying to belong to an organization. If you want to better your resume join a completely voluntary organization. Paying an organization only makes you appear to have limited social skills.
